I should have guessed...

I wonder if I should contribute with a "msec" patch or simply move the logs 
elsewhere...

I just checked Vincents qmail setup:

UID: qmaill
GID: nofiles 

/var/log/qmail
/var/log/qmail/pop3d
/var/log/qmail/qmqpd
/var/log/qmail/smtpd

and that's almost the same as mine:

/var/log/qmail
/var/log/pop3d
/var/log/qmqpd
/var/log/qmtpd
/var/log/smtpd
