the goal of lspcidrake is not to replace lspci. In fact lspcidrake is just a simple example of what can be obtained with ldetect (which use ldetect-lst). - use lspci when you want precise pci information - use lspcidrake when you want to know the module which will make your card work One advantage of lspcidrake is that it probes subids only when needed or asked (and probing subids (which means reading /proc/bus/pci/*/*) can freeze the box)
