Hi,

Some things that I really hate about the Mandrake Software manager:

* When downloading a hdlist or synthesis, it doesn't provide any
feedback about the progress. There is just the rpmdrake bar going left
and right. An ordinary user would think that the thing was in a deadlock
and kill it, while it is desperately trying to download the 13MB
hdlist.cz .

* There are no package descriptions in the synthesis files. While they
are a nice step towards smaller index file sizes, having no descriptions
isn't good either. Apt has files of about 2-3 MB per CD, including
descriptions, which seems to me quite nice, even for us modem users.

* It often fails to upgrade. I select a number of packets that I want to
have upgraded. Then I click install. Software Update collects the
packets that it needs additionally. Then it downloads the packets. If it
fails somehow, even if only with one packet, it cancels the whole
progress. The list of packets that I have selected for the upgrade is
also lost. So I would have to go through the whole list again, if I had
the patience...

Actually, I would prefer to have the whole thing based on apt instead of
urpmi, because apt feels much more stable and finished to me...
