It may be too late but ... rc.local is meant for *local* stuff. On Mandrake it is delivered as part of initscripts. It means, that depending on SPEC file one of two things happens
- either it is overwritten on update and so local changes are lost - or it is not changed and so possibly important changes may be not installed. Not every user knows about *.rpmnew files; and when you install using rpmdrake you get *no* feedback (that is the main reason I do not use it) and do not know if you have to look and compare old and new file. -andrej I'm just thinking where to put echo -n using_dma:0 > /proc/ide/ide1/hdd/settings as best :-)
