I've tried out 2 CD-RW Drives, one being a Philips CDD-3610 and the other being a HP 7200 Series (HP C4380-56000). This is what I did to both and have got no progress:
- I did hdparm -d0 /dev/hdc to turn off dma for this device - I added devfs=nomount to lilo.conf and hdparm -d0 /dev/hdc - I also echo -n "using_dma:0" > /proc/ide/ide1/hdc/settings and also did a hdparm -d0 /dev/hdc to make sure it was off It starts burning anywhere from the 5meg to 50meg mark using cdrecord, then it dies, hard locking the system. Anyone like a few costers ;) Mandrake Cooker 2.4.17-10mdk -------------------------------------------------------------------- cat settings name value min max mode ---- ----- --- --- ---- bios_cyl 0 0 1023 rw bios_head 0 0 255 rw bios_sect 0 0 63 rw current_speed 33 0 69 rw ide_scsi 0 0 1 rw init_speed 33 0 69 rw io_32bit 0 0 3 rw keepsettings 1 0 1 rw log 0 0 1 rw nice1 1 0 1 rw number 1 0 3 rw pio_mode write-only 0 255 w slow 0 0 1 rw transform 1 0 3 rw unmaskirq 0 0 1 rw using_dma 0 0 1 rw -------------------------------------------------------------------- hdparm /dev/hdc /dev/hdc: HDIO_GET_MULTCOUNT failed: Input/output error I/O support = 0 (default 16-bit) unmaskirq = 0 (off) using_dma = 0 (off) keepsettings = 1 (on) HDIO_GET_NOWERR failed: Input/output error readonly = 0 (off) BLKRAGET failed: Input/output error HDIO_GETGEO failed: Invalid argument busstate = 1 (on) -------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Gary Chisholm My GnuPG Public Key available at http://www.keyserver.net/
