I have a wireless (RF) Intellimouse.  It obviously makes a difference in this case.  The button mapping features still need to be ironed out in my opinion (regardless of mouse type).

I can't see any smart ass remark. I just tried to answer as, you will
notice not so many did. When I wrote that I wished your feedback would
be heard, I exactly meant that: maybe something has to be done.

I just looked under my mouse and it's written "IntelliMouse® 1.1A PS/2
Compatible". It runs as a wheel mouse should, both in console and under
X using imps2 settings.
