Everything went mostly like a dream.... ; contrats For minimal installs + documents + ntp + and - printer + and - X; no observed problems during install or after re-boots.
For maximum install, no observed problems. AutoInstalls from the generated (at end of install) worked, including auto install of cups/printer selection; congrats to Till for solution to the cups ready problem. Possible Issues: 1. on Boot Loader Panel, Advanced - selecting vga mode other than normal produces some incorrect result; examination of bootloader.pm shows that the mode values for the text settings are not all correct; with my video card and using vga= ask, the following are presented: 0f01 - 80x50 0f02 - 80x43 0f03 - 80x28 0f05 - 80x30 <--- 0f06 - 80x34 <--- 0f07 - 80x60 <--- There are a number of others too, but .... 2. as a result of 1, I re-ran lilo from the command line and received the following messages: Warning: Int 0x13 function 8 and function 0x48 return different head/sector geometries for BIOS drive 0x80. Warning: 'menu-scheme' not supported by boot loader. The second warning only occurred with the minimal installs. During the boot up, the "Setting default font:" (rc.sysinit) seemed to cause the display to change from the wrong 80x?? to 80x30 (minimal only). 3. the install.log file shows: %post scriptlet failed glibc-2.2.4-23mdk Previous Comments: 1. security is spelt wrong on the Advanced.msg (F2) display 2. The help screen for the Select Install Class panel has no reference to the Upgrade packages button. All in all, a good night. regards Dave
