I mentioned in the crashtesters list that the only bug I had in my computer with beta of 8.2 was the same, my voodoo3 3000 is not runing 3D, but the module tdfx is loaded and the XFConfig-4 file is well configurated (is very similar to that I have in the 8.1 partition, when the graphics fly).
Mesa is, on the other hand, runing fine!!! with 8.2 I don't know if it is a 8.2 bug or a problem with the new XFree86 4.2; anyway it should be solved for the final release; this would make of 8.2 a wonderfull distribution, as 7.2 was in it time ^_^ Francisco Alcaraz Murcia (Spain) ----- Mensaje Original ----- Remitente: Charles A Edwards <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Fecha: Mircoles, Febrero 7, 2001 3:22 pm Asunto: Re: [Cooker] Mandrake 8.2 Beta 1 - ATI Radeon 3D support broken (very slow) in XFree86 4.2.0 > On 06 Feb 2002 12:00:42 +0100 > [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Franois Pons) wrote: > > > "Mike Diack" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > > > > > SUMMARY: > > > ATI Radeon setup doesn't work properly in Mandrake 8.2 beta 1, > to set the card > > > up properly especially for 3D work with XFree86 4.2.0 > > > (I've also heard rumours of similar problems with ATI Rage128 > Pros):> >... > > > Please fix this, since otherwise Mandrake 8.2 is just BRILLIANT! > > > > This is problably a problem with Mesa (which has been fixed > since), remove > > /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.3 (or Mesa package) and check again. > > > > I can verify that it is/was a Mesa problem. > After installing B1 the performace for my Radeon 32MB DDR was <100fsb. > Tuxracer was not playable, chromium would not run. > With the current version Mesa-4.01-4 I am getting 1300fbs > > > Charles > >
