I also am unsure if 4.2 is stable enough to ship. I
have been able to work out most of my X related
problems on my Dell Inspiron 8000 by disabling dri,
but I had fewer visable issues with dri in the 4.1
series. Personally, I think that Mandrake should err
on the side of caution for some of these newer
packages. The distro is shaping up to be quite fast
and it would be a shame to pair the many gains over
8.1 by releasing major packages such as XFree that
still have some major issues to address. No matter how
much improvements are made, people will make their
judgements on how buggy things are, especially in core
packages such as the kernel and XFree86.
