Problems with this mornings install off sunsite.uio.no:

1) message on console 2:

modification of read only value at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/MDK/common/globals.pm line 28

2) the looking for updates step looked in
/pub/unix/linux/distributions/Mandrake/updates/8.1
shouldn't this be 8.2?

3) it thought kernel 2.4.8-35.1mdj was an update to the current
kernel 3.4.17.

4) Pixel - the "bug" command on console 2 is broken. It wants a floppy
with an ext2 file system! OK, so i made an ext2 file system on the floppy,
then it complained about not having a valid partition table on the floppy.

The floppy is an LS120 drive, which is /dev/hdd - could that be the reason?

5) The add printer stuff - NOT broken - VERY nice! :-)

6) I'm on a laptop,. and there are PCMCIA issues:

6a) - you can't sync the time with ntp if the network isn't up. ntp is
brought up BEFORE the pcmcia is, so the network isn't started yet.
Would it make sense to bring up pcmcia earlier? That way can also detect new
pcmcia devices when detecting new hardware?

6b) - if a pcmcia cd-rw is detected, can we restart ide-scsi? I currently
have to manually modprobe -r ide-scsi and then modprobe ide-scsi. After
that it's recognised.

I don't think this will break anything, as most laptops don't have a built in
scsi controller, so re-assigning the scsi entries or whatever shouldn't be a
problem. Very few desktops with scsi controllers have pcmcia support, and
even less of them would be using ide controlled CD-RW's

I CAN'T POSSIBLY be the only person in the world who wants to run Mandrake on
a laptop with a pcmcia controlled CD-RW!
