Actually it is 1 Jan 1970 00:00 which is the epoch on Unix. It is not intentional; it is just that when devfs creates object it does not fill in mtime. Do you get any problems because of that? OTOH it allows you to find out those nodes that have been touched by user that may be useful for debugging. -andrej
