That's right, but: I forgot to add that sometimes (and this was my case) you need to exchange files with Windows users, in particular with Windoze users using MS Outlook and MS Exchange server, which has exact limit of 2MB in setup. And, those Windoze users do not have tar, and in most cases haven't heard about it!..
