Obviously it is not getting killed, you can tell how
many "service pcmcia restart" I have done today :-}

            # RedHat and similar
            if [ -x /sbin/ifup ]; then
                debug_mesg invoke ifup $INTERFACE

                /sbin/ifup $INTERFACE

I saw no difference.
Should I continue to have the "exit" removed or should
I put it back in for testing the original ifup you
have. I know that once the "exit" was removed it
successfully removed /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-eth0.pid
