You problably have tried to use a newer gendistrib executable with an older
rpmtools package, problably because you used gendistrib in misc directory of
installation CD ? You need to use the rpmtools.{pm,so} in the misc directory
too, by using -I. when in misc directory an invoking gendistrib:
perl -I. ./gendistrib ...
