The following message is a courtesy copy of an article
that has been posted to comp.os.linux.setup as well.

Ever since upgrading to Mandrake 8.0, Tcl check boxes no longer show
the check state -- these programs have been working fine for 5 or
more years, but something about the 8.0 default config does not
agree with them.

Has anyone else noticed this problem? Is there an Xresource that
determines the colour or icon Tcl (tcl-8.3.3-7mdk) would use to mark
the state of a checkbox or radio button? It may be related to the
Gnome/sawfish window manager (haven't tried under KDE).

I figured out (using appres) to set the background color of these
apps hoping that perhaps the problem was just the highlight shading
on Athena widgets, but now I can clearly see the white highlight
and it never varies with the state of the checkboxes, and the
problem is constant across all Tcl programs.
