I compiled the kernel with Dell support and disabled APIC ( as well as a bunch of other things not likely to be found on a laptop)
I now have dri enabled in XFree86 and the issue with kdm is gone. Also the screen refresh problem I had switching from X window :0 to Xwindow :1 has also been resolved (same basic problem as the kdm issue) The only draw back is I am unable to use the suspend to ram, when I bring it back up, it forces a reboot. This problem was temporarily resolved on kernel 2.4.17-16mdk running XFree86 without dri. I tried it with and without dri and also disabled glx and every other module mentioned in that section. ===== SI Reasoning [EMAIL PROTECTED] A requirement of creativity is that it contributes to change.
