Since I saw that new xinitrc changes the default priority of X server
to -10 (higher), would it also be a problem to change the default
priority of cronjobs to +19 (lowest)?
What about running "nice -n 19 run-parts" in /etc/crontab ? I don't
think that it's a reason to not lower the priority of time and
performance consuming tasks as slocate/msec/find etc. jobs.
(And for make this thing more effective, I also recommend Rik van
Riel's large nice patch which I already commented in one of my
previous posts. The best solution would be Mingo's O(1) scheduler, but
I couldn't call it "safe", - but large nice patch is really tiny and
shouldn't break anything.)
Have a nice day
