I installed beta3 over beta1/beta2/8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 8000.
1) The kdm login screen background is fixed.
2) Still dies on power events due to tha APIC problem.
Recompiled the kernel without APIC and it works well.
Sent Juan the dmidecode information for this machine.
3) make xconfig was broken (reported fixed in the next version)
so used make menuconfig instead
4) Problems with dhcpcd not removing the pid file after a crash seem fixed.
In beta 2 I also had to change /etc/hosts to include my machine name
but this also seems fixed.
