After doing some troubleshooting and eliminating the gatos ATI driver (I had the same problems even under init 2), I decided to dig further. I booted to init 1 (no services running) and would enable a service then suspend to ram until I found the one that caused it to reboot upon resume. The winner is.... service pcmcia start To make matters worse, If I boot to init 2, then immediately switch to init 1 (thereby closing all services) It will still reboot upon resume after suspend to ram. So whatever problems that are being created are not removed when all services are shut down. Further, If I boot to init 1, suspend to ram, then resume back.... then switch to init 4, shortly after starting all of the processes for init 4 it will reboot itself (without attempting another suspend to ram) I suspect it may have something to do with hotplug or the uhci.o error message (usb) that I always get whenever I run pcmcia. However, just to add even more confusion to the fray... I can still boot into kernel 2.4.17-16mdk (w/o APIC) and suspend to ram fine as long as dri is not enabled in XF86Config-4.
