So you should better try to download some small file and measure the
download time, that should give you better numbers. (small ping
latency or lower # of hops doesn't mean better connectivity at all)
Other thing is if you care more the download time (connectivity) or
how much often the mirror is updated ...
What about feature that finds the most up-to-date mirror from selected
ones?
