I did remove that option, but it still did not run
properly. It no longer gave me an error message and
acted like it was installed and a pid marker was
created but no pid was running and I could not get in.
I even tried replacing sshd_config with its backup but
to no avail.

I ended up deleting /etc/ssh and
uninstalling/reinstalling openssh and then it worked
again.
