The best is to have no password for root. And never allow root to log
in.

Use the lyrics of a song that you know very well. For example use the
second letter of each word and replace some of the letters with numbers
or signs in a pattern you see on the keyboard.

You really can't forget it because its is allready in your head. And its
total randomness for outsiders.
