can you tell exactly what is your configuration. Did you upgrade or something? Currently, DrakX, localedrake and kcontrol are the only tools that modify the KDE settings. - if you just installed, it works because DrakX did the configuration for you - if your system was already configured by the old startkde, it should work (~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals being already configured) Please give your ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals and /usr/share/config/kdeglobals to find out what is wrong.
