you could script tcpdump to start up before hand and capture packets to a file. it sounds as if it'd probably be DNS lookups. does the same thing happen if you execute: /etc/rc.d/init.d/nfs restart you could always run it with sh -x and see whats taking so long, and where it's pausing. -- PGP key: http://codex.net/pgp/pgp.asc It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose. -- Darrin Weinberg
