Right. I have (locally) done 90% of the changes to drakx to allow
this. I got stuck in some yukky perl5 obfuscated (sorry, I don't like
perl5) code that was causing the root device in the boot manager setup
to have "/dev/dev/..." (an extra /dev prepended to it). I could not
figure out what the perl contruct that was causing this was and gave
up. I didn't really care to learn that much about perl5 to figure it
out.

I do have fully working (all of my systems are LVM root!) mkinitrd
patches to allow mkinitrd to make LVM capable initrds. I boot all of
my lvm-on-root systems with initrds made from my local mkinitrd
script.

I can contribute the patches to mandrakesoft if you are interested in
incorporating them. I have not up until this point because my
enhancement contributions here seem to just get ignored. But if
somebody from mandrake says they are interested in incorporating
lvm-on-root into Cooker's mkinitrd, I will be more than happy to
generate and send the patches.
