Well, my laptop runs dhcp server for a number of purposes. And I am thinking of whether there is a need for all of those 2-3-4 cds. Maybe we will go to DVD. Maybe we will go to a combination of cd and the net. Maybe we will go to net alone. Anyway I see some ways for the future: 1. for boxed mandrake products it is fine to have the cds. 2 or 3 or 4 is not the matter. Suse has 7 cds and a DVD. Mandrake could go dvd also, many homes now have dvd on their computer. 2. for people like the cooker mavens that does all download over the net there may be a faster way to do things than what I did, downloaded 3 cds over a 256 ADSL line, took me 16 hours. I now installed beta4 on my laptop, from 1 cd and then http to my stationary. I noticed that I only needed about 230 Mb beyond the cd1 for a kind of full server - instead of the 1300 Mb that really is on the CD2 and CD3. So I could have saved 80 % of my download time, if I could have chosen in advance which packages to install. And I could have sped up my beta testing by a day. (I could also have done beta testion on cooker, of course, and maybe one day I will learn it....) But the drakx does not currently support different media for the different cds. Could be an extension that would not be too difficult to make. So please register this as a request for new functionality, (post 8.2) Keld
