I'd just like to say the following . . .

History has it that usually the first to market becomes the dominant for
that market.  Even if there product is not technically the best (using
M$ as an example)

I would recommend using KDE 2.2.2 as default, but at least adding the
ability (with the necessary warnings) to add KDE 3 alongside it.  This
would narrow the perceived advantage that SuSE would have.

The whole beauty of Linux is the freedom of choice, even though some are
overwhelmed with too much choice - it's still a healthier standpoint.

If you Linux guru's at mandrake can pull it off to allow a user to
easily have KDE3 alongside KDE2 this would be a coup!

I would put warning message all over the install stating that it is NOT
supported (use at your own risk!) - but put it in there.  

Obviously SuSE would not put there neck so far out the line if they
didn't think it was worth it . . .

Let's not get emotional, let's get rational here!
