| Well 8.0 had most (I say most even though I can't think of one that
| isn't included in the pcmcia packages) of the "free" available ones.
| I guess the answer depends on the particular card you are using.
| And I don't think you've mentioned that.

linux-wlan(tm) Project

http://www.linux-wlan.com/projects.html

In December of 1996, we launched the linux-wlan(tm) Project (Linux Wireless
Local Area Network) and began our research in WLAN technology. The goal of
the linux-wlan(tm)project is to develop a complete, standards based, wireless
LAN system using the GNU/Linux operating system including a Linux device
driver for IEEE 802.11 wirless network cards, access point and portal
software and user mode utility software. What differentiates this project
from the Linux wireless extensions and other Linux wireless projects is that
we base our development on the 1997 approved IEEE 802.11 standard.

Many components of the project are completed and progress continues towards
meeting all the goals of this project. This project marked the beginning of
many software projects for wireless LAN technology for our company. Since the
development of our first Linux WLAN device driver for this project, we have
written various custom drivers for embedded applications and other operating
systems.
