 Yes i did mean 2.4.18-7mdk kernel sorry about that typo it was late in
 night and i was geting tired as i couldnt make any old kernels i had
 able to make initrd image. as was pointed out in other mail it might be
 devfsd issue and not the kernel problem. i will try and downgrade my
 devfsd now and see how that works.
