I have the same problem at work (shhht, don't tell anyone who doesn't
already know;), but I don't reboot often enough or I am always doing
some other stuff to dig into this one.
However, I think I noticed that if I manually skill automount before,
the machine manages to shutdown unmounting the HD correctly.
I think I also read some NFS stuff has been fixed in 2.4.19.
