If you are using devfs, nvidia install detects it and puts a line
alias /dev/nvidia/* NVdriver
into /etc/modules.conf. This line has a typo - specifically, the last "/" doesn't
belong there.
Some people have worked around it by putting
NVdriver
into /etc/modules, but I prefer doing fixes the right way.
