Trust me if a app can screw-up I will usually find it with no problem.
Have found that it was not krpmbuilder that created the difficulty.
It was rpmbuilder-0.5.1b-1mdk which creates the file /root/.rpmmacros
when it is launched as root.
This will duplicate all that is necessary is that you launch the app.
