I simply added "/sbin/rmmod/usb-ohci & /sbin/rmmod/ehci-hcd" within the
/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia (within the "stop)"section prior to this
script unloading any modules ($PCIC, pcmcia_core & ds).

Although a quick hack, it works and the freezes have completely
stopped...etc.

eh, i hand wrote the above since i couldn't even sync the drives prior
to reboot (kernel hacking keys).

Couldn't I also enable verbosity by using cardmgr to enable verbose
method....mainly within /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia (CARDMGR_OPTS="-f -v"?

yup. reviewed the entire /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia script and "restart)"
just loops "stop) & start)" sections. ;-)

i'll kick around the idea of rebuilding the kernel again ;-) i just
might do so, give me some time tho.
