Not necessarily. In terms of updates, make sure you don't use %configure2.5 macro and just use %configure instead. That way rebuilding a src rpm, as long as rpm-macros is installed, will be fine. In the case of rebuilding cooker for 7.2, well, it *is* cooker, after all.
