Just want to know if anyone knows of a package (spec file, really) that
uses environment variables passed from the shell to the rpm build
process. I want to be able to set the release number and version based
on whether the package is being built from CVS or not.

This will hopefully allow us to get our packaging directly into the
samba tree such that:

1)Normal cooker builds still work
2)Builds from samba source releases work, and have the right version and
release
3)Samba CVS builds work, and have a 0.`date "+%Y%m%d`cvs.mdk release number

using the same spec file for cooker CVS and samba cvs (samba2.spec.tmpl)

Thus far I have had 1) and 2) working (well, it would have worked for
2.2.4 if the last patch had gone in), but it would be nice (for me, and
for others testing fixes in cvs) for this to work.

And I thus need to be able to differentiate between 1) and 3)
