What happens if you disable the DMA in /etc/sysconfig/harddiskhdc (or harddisk<your drive>), cp of /etc/sysconfig/harddisks (uncomment USE_DMA and put 0). I reported this strange problem for my configuration and hopefully it worked. Thanks to Andrej and John. Stef
