Yes. It's correct for Mandrake's build machine, but not for Mandrake users. There's no reason it shouldn't default to buildling for the arch it's running on. If you look in the file /usr/lib/rpm/rpmrc, look for lines that say buildarchtranslate: The section currently looks like: buildarchtranslate: athlon: i586 buildarchtranslate: i686: i586 buildarchtranslate: k6: i586 But it should be: buildarchtranslate: athlon: athlon buildarchtranslate: i686: i686 buildarchtranslate: k6: k6 Also, RPM can't detect athlon, so it'll detect it as i686.
