Well, you just gave a reproducable test case :)) It is definitely a libzvt bug, compiling gnome-terminal with vte support fixed the problem.. I suggest you fill a bug report on bugzilla.gnome.org against libzvt. But don't expect it to be fixed, since mid-term plan are to move from zvt to vte (I'm not sure I'll do that for 9.0, we'll see..)
