[Cooker] coloured terminal problem?

While we're on the terminal...I noticed since installing Cooker that my
standard user doesn't get coloured console output, but root does - if I
do an ls I get grey output, su to root and do the same ls, it's
coloured. I looked for a while to try and figure out where this is set,
but I just can't. Can anyone help? And is this intentional, or a problem
somewhere in the packaging process? (With 8.2 all users get coloured
output.)
