I am not having any problem with Mesa either.
At first I thought it was because of NVIDIA rpms but everything still
works on system with ATI radeon.
When I say everything I am including kde3, xclock, licq, etc.

$ locate libGL.so |less  on all systems shows
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.3.403
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.0
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so
