Nobody says it is bad feature. The problem is it requires support in each application ... and we already have seen Mandrake reaction to United Linux idea.
Here is another idea how it can be implemented. Daemon that monitors specific files (e.g. bookmarks) and then distributes changes according to rules. It still needs import/export programs but advantage is it si independent of applications. So it can be developed, tested and deployed transparently in any environment. Now we just need somebody motivated enough to write it :-) -andrej
