Mail may be sent in two ways:
-contacting target SMTP server
-running a MTA
Some programs use the later and postfix is among the packages
(postfix, sendmail, ssmtp) that supply one.
So if you are network client some MUAs such as mutt may trigger postfix
installation.
But anyway: try rpm -q --whatrequires or something
