Hi. Just wondering about how bootsplash setup works exactly. See, when I
updated to kernel -21mdk, I didn't get a bootsplash anymore. Yesterday I
happened to look into this a bit, and noticed that my initrd was much
smaller than the -20mdk one; I guessed it didn't have a bootsplash image
in. So I found /etc/sysconfig/bootsplash, and noticed it was set to
'auto'. I verified using mkinitrd manually that, with this setup, it
didn't generate a bootsplash image in the initrd. I then changed it to
'800x600' (to force a bootsplash to be included), re-ran mkinitrd, and
got a larger initrd with a bootsplash included; replaced the old smaller
one in /boot with the new one, and it worked fine on bootup. The other
thing I changed during this was lilo.conf; I changed the -21mdk entry
from using vga=normal to vga=788, I don't know if this is related.

So I guess my question is - what does the auto setting do? Why does it
decide not to generate a bootsplash on my system, even though when I
generate one myself it works OK?

Thanks!

(Now to upgrade to .22mdk...hehe)
