I went through some of this recently when upgrading to KDE 3 before
Cooker.

Note that a lot of the QT newest stuff wants the latest greatest
autoconf and automake.

Maybe the latest greatest isn't backwards workable with less than
latest QT.

?

Sounds like same compile time issues I was facing, only in reverse.

I also had issues that were related to qt-mt with messages very similar
to what you are seeing, something about KDE multithreading, and
libpth. ( I had fixed all my issues with getting kde3 rpms for mdk FROM
a download area recommended by kde.org, including libpth... and going
and getting very new autoconf, automake )

I don't do this sort of thing, building, managing conf, make, etc.,
so you need to tell me to "shh" or "more info".

Hopefully this may be of some help so far...

DO let me know what happens with you and how you ultimately
fix this if you remember to and have a couple seconds...
