Usual scenario (9.0 beta 2 installed from CD-R and cooker updates until this
morning).

The KDE kernel configurator is showing

"/usr/src/linux/drivers/sound/Config.in line 234

source sound/Config.in
^ cannot open /usr/src/linux/sound/Config.in for reading

/usr/src/linux/drivers/sound/Config.in line 234

source sound/Config.in
           ^ parse error

Either your kernel sources contain invalid configuration rules or you just
found a bug in the KDE Kernel Configurator."

This is with a vanilla kernel (before any attempt to recompile it) ...

For what it's worth, my PC has an i815 chipset with integrated sound (for
which the KDE Control Centre has always said 'Sorry, no information available
about Soundcard!').
