This is normal for that chipset.  (I get the same thing on my K7D with
no problems.)

I get this if the booting kernel does not recognize the file system. 
Personally I believe that any file system used for / should be compiled
into the kernel and not left for initrd and the modules.  (Because it
does not always work and you get messes like this.)
