Hi,

I haven't had a chance to try beta2, but just in case these issues
from beta1 haven't been fixed yet, I thought I'd mention them:

- When formatting a loopback filesystem greater than 2GB in size on a
vfat partition, DrakX crashes every time. This problem existed in
8.2 as well -- it would be nice to prohibit this if vfat can't
  handle it.

- I am unable to write on a vfat partition from which my root
partition was mounted via -o loop.

- freetype-tools was not installed as a dependency of drakxtools, so
drakfont doesn't quite get TrueType fonts installed. (It tried to run
  ttmkfdir but it wasn't there.)

- I still get a kernel panic on my Vaio F340 when shutting down or
running "cardctl eject" with my Buslink wireless network card
  inserted.

The workaround is to manually remove the card before suspending or
shutting down, but I often forgot.

- The other workaround was to switch to a different card, based on
PrismII. It's faster, too... but Mandrake doesn't quite get the
driver right. I noticed that Mandrake includes the prism2_plx and
prism2_pci drivers from linux-wlan-ng, but not the PCMCIA driver or
configuration tools. When I build the configuration tools myself
from linux-wlan-ng they work great with the plx driver in the
Mandrake kernel. It would be nice if Mandrake could support these
  card automatically.

All in all I find Beta1 to be much cooler than 8.2 in several
respects-- Gnome starts faster, Nautilus doesn't lock up after viewing
several jpegs, and gpilotd, while not available on the toolbar, syncs
my Visor on the first try when run from the command line.

Keep up the great work and I'll be watching for Beta3 or Beta4 as my
schedule permits. Please CC me on replies; I have the list set on
nomail due to volume but I do watch the archives now and then.
