When the X server is starting on boot, and stopping when you choose shutdown, it freezes for several seconds. It didn't used to do this.
When you boot with devfs=nomount and have devfsd not start, the USB optical mouse I have here is not working (X or GPM, the latter of which dies on start). This used to work. /dev/mouse points to usbmouse, messages says GPM couldn't open that though. gpm is also reporting an oops: oops(): [/home/snailtalk/RPM/BUILD/gpm-1.20.0/src/gpm.c(956)]: it also gives an info: line that looks similar (gpn.c(363)). The first time in the log it tries to start gpm, I also see: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-81 I don't see this after the times I tried to restart gpm. Other interesting things from messages: --- from during boot --- usbdevfs: remount parameter error usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x46d/0xc00c) is not claimed by any active driver. /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 0/0/0 xfs: ignoring font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/drakfont (unreadable) xfs: ignoring font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/pcf_drakfont:unscaled (unreadable) depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.19-3mdk/kernel/drivers/media/video/saa7134.o.gz some Unrecognized keys in kdmrc: AllowShutdown - line 45 NoUsers - 64 Users - 71 AllowShutdown - 81 All - 68 --- from while logged in KDE --- sda: READ CAPACITY failed. Make sure there is a disc in the drive. It repeats the above over and over (with some more messages, those are just the error looking ones), I assume the "scsi" device is the CD burner drive. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
