The Proxim Symphony wireless card I've been using from 7.1 through 9.0
beta 2 refuses to work under beta 3. The driver (rlmod) compiles and and
loads and can ping other hosts using the low-level wireless tools that
come with it, but it won't come up on the network. I've tried dhcp (my
normal method) and static IP.
DHCP gives me:

Determining IP information for eth1... failed; no link present. Check cable?

Static IP will ping myself, but won't ping the gateway.

I noticed that modprobe rlmod shows

/lib/modules/2.4.19-3mdk/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o.gz: init_module:
Operation not permittedHint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module
parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may find more information in syslog
or the output from dmesg
modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.19-3mdk/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/ds.o.gz
failedmodprobe: insmod rlmod failed

Is there possibly a problem with pcmcia?
