You can do what a lot of the people on this list do, use urpmi.

urpmi.addmedia
urpmi --auto-select

It should work (mostly) just fine. You may want to try updating urpmi 
and perl-URPM first though ... (it sometimes helps).

And if you want a kernel upgrade you must do the seperately.
